Connecticut reached its 12-month rolling fatal overdose peak in November 2021. As of June 2024, overdoses are down 24.14%. This data comes from the CDC Vital Statistics web page that tracks overdoses in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
At the end of this post is the CDC’s list of states and the date they hit peak overdose. Note: only three states (Alaska, Nevada and Utah) continue to show a rise from their 12 month peak. I compiled the list by reviewing each state’s charts.
The United States as a whole reached its 12-month peak fatal overdose level in August 2023 at 111,802. As of June 2024, that rolling 12-month number stands at 93,087, a decline of 16.8%.
I expect Connecticut data will continue to show decline for at least another five months based on preliminary data in Connecticut that is still incomplete. When these numbers will plateau or see another up rise is unknown at this time, but it is apparent overdoses are falling everywhere. The next monthly update should be out in a few days. Stay tuned.
